In this interview by CBS news for 60 minutes, McKubre answers questions on fusion, what it can do, and gives journalist Scott Pelley a tour of his lab.
The interview included statements from different perspectives in addition to McKubre, including Richard Garwin—a respected physicist who remains skeptical of claims of excess heat. 60 minutes also brought in a more objective perspective with Robert Duncan, then Vice Chancellor of Research at the University of Missouri, an expert in measuring energy. He approached his evaluation with the skepticism typical of the science community, but came away stating that measurements of excess heat from the fusion experiments he observed were “quite real.”
The report ends with Pelley interviewing Martin Fleischmann, who reflects on mistakes made, opportunities missed, and the potential the technology still holds.
